Smart Wood started its journey in Poland with the lead carpenter – Piotr Zelek – learning the trade and moving to the UK in the early 2000s.

Working as a sub-contractor on many big projects in London, he decided that the next step in his career would be to go it alone and form his own company. Dissatisfied with the level of customer service or attitude of some fellow tradesmen that can be an issue in larger companies, Piotr felt that he could control the quality of his work and raise the satisfaction of his customers by dealing with them directly. And so Smart Wood was established, growing from strength to strength but never overextending itself to the point where quality and service would be compromised.
